Winter Park Colorado!

I set the date for my defense (April 9th @ 9am in EII 324, come if you want) last Wednesday. I sat down at my desk after that and realized that I didn't have anything to do for a week. Naturally I bought a ticket to Colorado for the next morning and started packing. I got in four days on good skiing and even one powder day when it was snowing. Check out the pictures here.

My first view of the front range as we are driving out of Denver:
A neat looking bowl seen as going over Berthoud pass:The top of Winter Park ski area and the Parsenn Bowl. The incredible Vasquez Cirque is to the right: The "Bear Claw" is always looming:My brother:A typical trail on Mary Jane, one of the best bump mountains around:There is about 25 of these huts hidden throughout the woods:This was in the hut, thought it was funny:
The porch, and its spectacular view, at the house we stayed at: Byers Peak can also be seen from the back yard, I really like the look of this one:

Ha, there's huts all over in the woods back home. My skibum friends call them "ganjolas" because some of them are old gondolas.. Looks like a good time, I'm jealous.

Backcountry Skiing in NH

I FINALLY finished a draft of my thesis on Friday! I promptly took off for an extended weekend in New Hampshire and had a great time. Did a lot of backcountry skiing and some ice climbing. Check out the pictures.
