Climbing wall update...

We're almost done the climbing wall! Here are a couple of pics. There is a 60 degree overhang, a 45 degree overhang, and the back wall, which we have not put plywood on yet. The cave ends up being over 15 feet wide and has lots of climbing surface.

P.S. SpaceX has postponed their launch until mid-February and probably will postpone it again. It's just the way these things will have to be.

Space shot on Sunday...

Alright, I admit it, I get excited about sending things to space. SpaceX is a company solely funded (for now) by one of the founders of Paypal. The idea is that something private will be much more efficient than the government projects that have been the driving force to this point. I will be really happy if this works. It will be the first step in a bold new direction that I really think must be taken.

We recently completed our first major pre-launch milestone, the Flight Readiness Review (FRR). This confirmed that all Vehicle, Payload, Ground Support Equipment, and Personnel are ready for launch. Following the FRR, the Falcon 1 was rolled out to the pad and we completed our wet dress rehearsal, which is a full countdown that holds approximately one minute before T-0.

The upgrades to the vehicle, Kwajalein launch facilities and our launch procedures have proven quite effective, and we have had a relatively smooth launch campaign up to this point. A number of non-critical issues arose during the wet-dress and are being resolved, but we have seen nothing to date that should delay our launch schedule.

Going forward, a static fire is planned Thursday, January 18 (California time). We have a launch window on January 21 and 22 (California time) and are working with the range to secure a couple of additional days as contingency. Should we go beyond that, which is still a good possibility as we work with the upgraded vehicle, pad, and procedures, the next available launch window is mid February. - www.spacex.com

I partied with elon musk and spacex at a conference in Logan Utah once.. Everyone was skeptical about his project then, I think things have changed a bit now...

It's still all talk until they make it work. That said, it gives me a lot of hope that this will someday be seen as the beginning of some VERY big things. Cool story! Did this have something to do with that rocket project you did in college?

Yeah, I worked on a small satellite, and spacex plans on selling launch space for small satellites for a fraction of what the big bloated gov'ment programs charge..

Moved today....

I moved today... My new address is: 141 Dockerel Rd., Tolland, CT 06084. It is at a house that a good friend of mine just bought... REALLY nice.
The idea is to live there for as little time as possible because I'm moving out as soon as I am done with my degree.

Not a bad place for the time being, especially because it has a bouldering cave in the basement that is almost done!

Get this party started...

I took this picture of lightning this summer after work. The trick, and I hope someone else will try this, is to set the camera to have a long exposure time and then just start taking a whole bunch of exposures. Hopefully you'll get something with one of them...
